How to Give a hospital presentation.


What you say

University hospital this is stony brook ambulance we are enroute with a 78 year old man complaining of chest pains. Pt is on O2 10 liters by a non rebreather mask, pulse is 82 and regular, BP 140/80 resp 16 and regular, patient has a history of diabetes CHF, asthma, gastric distention, chronic constipation. Patient is on k-dur, procantamide, lasix, ETA 2 min

What they hear

University Hospital blah blah blah blah blah 78 blah blah Chest pain blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah 2 min.

 

Remember in giving your present that it is a "heads up"
Hi  we are just letting you know we are coming
Keep it brief and to the point you will give a full report when you get there.

Hospital present.
Whatever "hospital this is" us
(wait for response)
"we are enroute with a"
Pt age and sex
Chief complaint
Vitals if abnormal otherwise say vitals within normal limits
medical history relating to chief complaint
ETA.

 Some people say to tell them treatment given to patient, but unless it is drugs, we don't care. If the patient was in a fall or MVA, I would hope they were collared and backboarded. If they are having resp. distress I would Hope they would be on Oxygen
